Amber is available in different colours, different parts of the world have different colours. We only stock Baltic Amber which comes in the above colours. You can also get unpolished amber that looks slightly different in colour when compared to a polished piece.
It is a naturally occurring material and is known for its rich variety of colours. Here are some common and rare colours.
Yellow and Orange: This includes hues such as lemon, cognac, and honey. It is the most common amber found, making up 70% of all amber. The colour can range from orange to Citrine hues, and can be as deep as brown.
Black: This colour is created due to a large amount of impurities and matter found within the resin it is created from. It accounts for less than 15% of amber.
Green: Also known as “Earth Amber,” green amber is popular for its shimmery appeal. Deeper shades of green are extremely rare compared to the lighter greens or yellow-green amber stones.
Blue: This colour is even harder to find than green amber.
White: This is one of the most appreciated and difficult to find stones. It accounts for under 2% of amber found around the world.
Red: This is just as rare as the blue stone, yet it also the most commonly used rare stones used in by artisans who sell amber.
Please note that the colour of amber can be influenced by a number of factors such as the environment, soil, resin, and water it is created from. Weather changes and chemical reactions are particularly responsible for the unique colour palettes amber may come in.
